The Personalized Learning Advantage
We offer students the power to own their own learning by giving them the tools and freedom to set personal goals.
Sam Houston Elementary was the oldest continuously operating school in Dallas ISD. During the 2018–2019 school year, the campus was transformed into a personalized learning campus. In 2025, the Sam Houston campus was repurposed as a Dallas ISD training center, and its students and teachers merged with Ignite Middle School to form the new PL Prep at J.W. Ray.
This transition created a larger, unified campus where the personalized learning model could extend from elementary school through 8th grade. FRIENDS OF PL PREP was created to help strengthen this new school community by providing financial support for programs, resources, enrichment opportunities, and other initiatives that benefit PL Prep students, teachers, and families.
